Joseph Chivayo’s 11 hour Remembrance Day challenge

For the 3rd year, Joseph Chivayo committed to run for 11hrs 11 mins and 11 seconds on the 11th November to generate £1111.11 for his chosen charities – Royal British Legion and the British Red Cross.

Joseph’s full story and the background to the charities can be found here.

Joseph volunteers for both charities in Derby and is undertaking what has become an annual challenge for him – walking, cycling and running continuously. With support from Pure Gym in Derby city centre, Joseph began his fundraiser at 6am.
Joseph, who volunteers at the Legion’s Pop In Information and Advice centre in the city,
said:
“This is the third time I am challenging myself this way so I can raise awareness of the
work these two fantastic charities do, as well as raising some much needed funds so they
can continue serving our country and communities. Last year it was great seeing people
come and show their support on the day and I’m humbled when many more donate their
hard earned money for this course.”
Joseph went on to say,
“Remembrance for me continues to be more than just a week or
yearly event, it’s a continued process of understanding my role and responsibilities as a
citizen, and not taking the freedom and life we enjoy today for granted while reaching out to
the most vulnerable in our society”
