The volunteer-led International Women’s Day Festival in Derby grows each year as a showcase for women and girls in the community, organisations, sport, arts, craft, business, education and more. It is a festival, as the stage is a continual stream of local talent in music, dance and spoken word. The tents were full of stalls of local organisations supporting and empowering women. This is not just a women’s event, it is for anyone and everyone.
A project led by the organising team is researching the history of Women’s Day in Derby, and how prominent women have been central to important events in the City. The intention is to create a documented legacy for future research. How to fully sum up the day?…the photos below….
