Sinfin Moor Social Club: Ambitious upgrade plans formally submitted for approval

I reported on May 18th 2020 that the Sinfin Moor Social Club had passed into new ownership and that the new owners had ambitious plans to extend and renovate.

New owners of Sinfin Moor Social Club will re-open after extensive refurbishment

Last week a planning application was submitted together with artist’s impressions, and floor layouts.

The upgrade plan will be subject to planning permission, but , in the meantime, the owners will open up as soon as possible.

Baggy Shanker, Sinfin Ward Councillor said:

“I’m delighted to have helped Sohan and Rick to acquire the lease and we are all excited with the new plans to refurbish and extend the club so that the whole community can continue to use its facilities. They also have some great ideas for shows and entertainment which will be fantastic for the local community. I would also like to thank Sanj Chopra for saving the club.”

Detail on the new layout

The existing building will be extended on the road side, creating an additional 325 sq metres, catering for 500 people. 2 new entrances will be created, one providing access to the function room and the other one, to the lounge. There will be additional toilets, and improved access for disabled people

The existing use class will be retained – a place of worship and community hub (D1). The building will be used to relocate an existing events business, currently based in Derby City Centre.  The new extension and new business / owners will employ 14 members of staff. The proposed opening hours will be 11am – 12 midnight dependant on functions.

Whilst the existing facilities will be re-opened as soon as possible, there are no details yet of when the refurbishment will be completed.

Great news for the people of Sinfin that they will have an improved community hub for the long term!
